We have been talking about what happens when we go to sleep at night. We found out that some people go to work at night and hospitals are always open, even when we are in bed. Some of the children have been playing ‘doctors and nurses’ in class so we diced to set up our role play area as Mab’s Cross Hospital. We have had some very poorly patients and fantastic, caring doctors, nurses and receptionists!

Breaking news…yesterday something strange happened in our outdoor area. We looked for clues and decided that aliens had crash landed! This morning we received a letter from the aliens, they were very thankful for the letters we wrote to them and the cheesy biscuits we left for them to eat! They told us their names were Nick and Nock and they had managed to fix their spaceship to return to the moon. It left us asking lots of questions about what it is like on the moon, it must be very quiet as they told us they thought Earth was loud and busy. The children had lots of fantastic ideas about what they thought the aliens might look like too.

Christmas is such a magical and busy time in school. I am so proud of all of our children for their fantastic, hard work in the nativity. They were all superstars! We have had lots of fun celebrating the festive season in class. Here are some photographs of our partying.

Myself and Mrs Tarbuck would like to thank all of our parents for their support in what has been a fantastic term! A huge thank you for your kind words, cards and gifts too. Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and we will see you in the new year for another brilliant term!

The children have been so busy in our Post Office writing letters, Christmas cards, wish lists, buying stamps and posting them. I am SO PROUD of the amazing, independent writing the children have produced!  We will be visiting the Post Office next week to post the Christmas cards we have been making.

Today the children listened to pieces of music by the composer Gustav Holst. The children talked about how it made them feel and what it made them think about before drawing to the music. The children produced some amazing work and they were all so different!

This week we read the story ‘The Runaway Chapati’, an alternative version of ‘The Gingerbread Man’. The children found the chapati’s chant very funny… ‘Run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t put me in your frying pan!’ We created our own story in class called ‘The Runaway Banana’ then the children made story maps for their own versions of the story.

You Well done to all of the children for coming to school in something spotty. Our ‘Best Spots’ prizes were awarded to Evie and Daniel. A big well done to Mrs Tarbuck too for getting a pie in the face in our assembly.

This week’s maths topic is money. Today we looked at the different coins, sorted them and described them using language such as bronze, silver, gold, round, bigger, smaller. We are going to be using coins to pay for things throughout the week. You could set up a shop at home using toys or food and put price labels, then use coins to pay for them.
